This curriculum is based on the application of medical knowledge in clinics and hospitals through direct interaction with patients and their genuine health conditions, and is complemented by our Public Health in Communities Program, which allows you to achieve meaningful learning from the first semester.

Mixed modular teaching system

At Universidad Xochicalco we use a mixed modular teaching system that facilitates an early introduction to clinical medicine. Community fieldwork and research will grant you invaluable experience and strengthen your comprehensive training. You'll engage in scientific evidence-based medicine, ensuring best practices.

COMAEM

Our Medical School is accredited by COMAEM, the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education. Additionally, it is included in the World Directory of Medical Schools published by the World Health Organization and listed in the International Directory of Medical Education.

Mission

To contribute to society by fostering general physicians who actively  address health concerns and provide medical care grounded in scientific, socio-medical, and humanistic principles, coupled with a strong ethical foundation and social commitment, who stand out for their expertise in community work and clinical and epidemiological research.

Vision

The vision of Universidad Xochicalco's School of Medicine is to lead in the field as one of the first three medical schools in Mexico's Northwest region, accredited by official national and international organizations, with a well-established Public Health & Community Medicine program and post-graduate offerings in the area of health.

Curriculum

  • The ability to identify problems and formulate hypotheses as part of an experiment or research process based on the scientific method, enabling the discovery of phenomena and the possible resolution of problems.
  • An awareness of taking care of one’s health by understanding one's own body, its vital processes, and the surrounding environment in order to stay healthy.
  • The ability to formulate and solve scientific and mathematical problems by employing various methods and approaches to achieve a higher level of reasoning.
  • The ability to interpret written messages in English and Spanish accurately, enabling the resolution of personal, academic, or professional needs.
  • The ability to efficiently and autonomously utilize information and communication technologies on a daily basis to research, solve problems, generate materials, and transmit information.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Admission Exam: College Board exam (in English), administered on campus. Applicants can schedule an exam date and time at preinscripcion.xochicalco.edu.mx.
  • English Exam: Applicants will complete the TOEFL exam following the admission exam. A passing score of over 600 points is required.
  • Documentation: Birth certificate, proof of address, high school transcript and diploma, immigration form, and provisional CURP.
  • Interview with the coordinator of the School of Medicine.

Curriculum by semesters

Courses are taught in Spanish.
Prospective students aspiring to enroll in our Bachelor's degree in Medicine should possess the following competencies:
  • An awareness of taking care of one’s health by understanding one's own body, its vital processes, and the surrounding environment in order to stay healthy.
  • The ability to interpret written messages in English and Spanish accurately, in order to resolve personal, academic and professional needs.

First level

The structure, function, and diagnostic methods relating to organs and systems, as well as the pathogens that most commonly impact health. The principles of medical and surgical therapy and the bio-psycho-social mechanisms that influence the state of health or disease. >The process of establishing presumptive morphological, functional, and syndromic diagnoses, as well as community health diagnoses.

Second level

The ability to identify the clinical manifestations of the most common pathologies and their differential diagnoses, with the support of the paraclinical tests necessary to confirm diagnoses and of the specific foundations needed to establish comprehensive therapeutic plans. Creating a therapeutic plan, triaging the most frequent medical-surgical emergencies, applying the scientific method in clinical research and other skills and abilities leading to expertise in the management of the medical history. 

Undergraduate Internship

Consolidated knowledge of the clinical manifestations of the most common pathologies and their differential diagnoses in core specialties, as well as the paraclinical exams required for diagnostic confirmation, medical-surgical therapeutics, patient and healthcare personnel safety; and familiarity with health programs across hospital and Family Medicine contexts.

USA residence

In order to complete a medical residence in USA. you will need:
  • To aprove a basic and clinical sciences knowledge exam, and an ocupational English Test OET.
  • Letters to recommendation. writen by licensed physicians practicing medicine in the USA.
